Pastor Matt grew up in Transylvania County. After graduating from Brevard High School, he moved away from the area for eight years to attend college and seminary before returning in 2001 to establish CampsAbroad, an international missions organization that specializes in establishing Christian camps for young people. In 2006, Bethany Baptist Church called Matt as senior pastor, while allowing him to continue directing CampsAbroad with the understanding that an associate pastor would also be brought on as soon as possible. Matt and Kelly have been married since 1998 and are blessed with three boys: Gabe, Jeriah, and Levi. Matt enjoys Tar Heels basketball, Panthers football, reading books of all kinds, and doing outside activities like biking and hiking with his family. He has spent time in more than 50 different countries and has eaten food of every possible description (as well as some that defy description!).
Pastor Paul grew up in Alabama, but graduated from college and seminary in South Carolina. While in college he met Christie, and they were married in 1990. Paul served as a youth pastor in the Atlanta area for nearly eleven years. In 2005 the Whitts moved to Wisconsin where Paul served on the administration of a Christian college, and as Camp Director of a year-round camp in the northwoods. He also worked a year with with Cross Impact, a ministry to local churches in helping them reach college campuses with the gospel, and was called to be Associate Pastor at Bethany Baptist Church in May of 2015. Paul and Christie have three children: Emily, Alex, and Jackson. In his spare time Paul enjoys playing golf, coaching basketball (he has 10 years of experience as a college and high school coach), and cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide, Atlanta Braves, and the Green Bay Packers.
